Community Guidelines

Last Updated · 8 October 2026

Together, With Respect.

These Community Guidelines ("Guidelines") apply to all users of the Community and Skin Twin / Hair Twin features in the Klaris mobile app (the "App" or "Klaris"). Klaris is a personalised cosmetic decision-support app for the Turkish cosmetics market that assesses the user's skin/hair profile alongside product ingredients. Community spaces let users share experiences and exchange ideas in a shared feed for people with the same Skin or Hair Identity.

i.

Introduction and Data Controller

You Accept These Guidelines.

By using Community features, you declare that you have read and understood these Guidelines and agree to follow them. These Guidelines apply together with, and form an integral part of, the Klaris Terms of Use (Terms of Service / EULA), Privacy Policy and KVKK Privacy Notice. In the event of a conflict, these Guidelines govern rules of conduct; the Terms of Use govern legal/liability matters.

Klaris is operated by an individual entrepreneur. The data controller is Mustafa Eren KOÇ, acting as a natural person (not a company/legal entity). General contact: info@klaris.com.tr · data subject (KVKK) requests: kvkk@klaris.com.tr: website: klaris.com.tr.

Your data are stored in Türkiye. All your personal data processed in the Klaris app and all app/user data are stored in Türkiye, on servers in Türkiye. The klaris.com.tr website is served through a global content delivery network (Cloudflare) and does not host sensitive personal data; your Community content is held on the app's servers in Türkiye. In the separate web newsletter email/consent process, records may also be processed outside Türkiye on Cloudflare Workers KV.

ii.

Age and Participation

Open to All Ages: Community Participation.

1.1. Klaris is open to users of all ages. Everyone using Community features must follow these rules; users who are minors are expected to participate under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

1.2. The general Community is available with a valid Klaris account (Sign in with Apple on iOS, Sign in with Google on Android). Skin Twin and Hair Twin feeds also require completion of the relevant Identity and Klaris Premium access.

1.3. You are responsible for all community activities carried out through your account. You are obliged to keep your account and sign-in details confidential.

iii.

General Principle of Conduct

The General Principle of Conduct: Respect.

2.1. The Klaris Community brings together people with different experiences, levels of knowledge and backgrounds in skin and hair care. All members are expected to treat one another respectfully, kindly and constructively.

2.2. You may criticise, disagree and offer a different view, but must do so without targeting, insulting or belittling the person. Challenge the idea, not the person.

2.3. The Community is not a setting for medical consultation. Content shared here consists of personal experiences and opinions; it does not replace professional healthcare (see Section v).

iv.

Identity and Anonymity

Participation With a Display Name, System Name or Complete Anonymity.

3.1. You can participate in the Klaris Community in two ways:

  • (a) With an author name: you participate using the display name you choose in your Profile that passes the Community Guidelines filter. If you have not yet chosen a display name, a system name containing no personal information is used. Your real name and email received from the sign-in provider (Apple on iOS, Google on Android) are not displayed in the Community.
  • (b) Completely anonymously: without even displaying your chosen display name, your post's author is shown as "Anonymous".

You make this choice and may change it to the extent the app allows. The author name used when a post is published is retained on that post; a later name change does not retrospectively change the author name on earlier posts.

3.2. Anonymity does not exempt you from the rules. Whether you participate with a display name or anonymously, you must comply with these Guidelines and applicable legislation. Violations through an anonymous profile are subject to the same sanctions.

3.3. Impersonating another person is prohibited. You may not use the display-name option to assume another person's identity, present yourself as an organisation/brand/expert or create a misleading identity.

3.4. Even if you choose to participate anonymously, your account remains technically linked to your account in Klaris systems. Anonymity is in relation to other Community members; in the event of conduct contrary to the Guidelines, Klaris may identify and take action on the relevant content and, where necessary, the account.

v.

Prohibited Content and Conduct

What Is Strictly Prohibited in the Community.

The following content and conduct are strictly prohibited in the Klaris Community. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. Klaris also reserves the right to act against conduct it considers contrary to the spirit of these Guidelines.

  • 4.1. Harassment, bullying and threats: harassment, singling someone out for attack, persistent unwanted contact, cyberbullying, intimidation, threats, blackmail or humiliation based on a person's physical appearance, skin, hair or any other characteristic is prohibited.
  • 4.2. Hate speech and discrimination: any content involving hatred, degradation, discrimination or incitement to violence based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, medical condition or similar characteristics is prohibited.
  • 4.3. Sexual content and obscenity: pornographic, obscene or sexually inappropriate content; nudity; and messages, images or comments constituting sexual harassment are prohibited. Klaris is a platform focused on skin/hair care; sexual content is not permitted.
  • 4.4. Illegal content and activities: any content contrary to the legislation in force in the Republic of Türkiye; posts encouraging or inciting crime or providing criminal tools/methods; and the sale, promotion or supply of drugs, prescription medicines, counterfeit/smuggled products or illegal substances are prohibited.
  • 4.5. Spam, advertising and unsolicited commercial content: spam; repetitive/bulk posts; unauthorised advertising; commercial promotion of brands, products, stores or websites; sales listings; referral/affiliate links; "follow for follow", artificial engagement and similar unsolicited commercial activities are prohibited. Honest, non-commercial sharing of personal product experiences does not fall within this prohibition.
  • 4.6. Sharing others' private information (doxxing): sharing another person's first and last name, telephone number, address, email, Turkish Republic identity number, location, private photos or any other personal/private data without their explicit consent (doxxing) is strictly prohibited. You are not required to share private data from your own skin/hair diary in the Community; this is entirely your choice. Do not share screenshots or private correspondence belonging to others without permission.
  • 4.7. Medical claims and giving medical advice: on a health-related platform, this is an especially important prohibition. Users may not diagnose, recommend treatment, give prescription-like directions or give medical advice. For example, statements such as "use this product, it will clear your acne/eczema", "stop using this cream, you don't need a doctor" or "use this dose" are prohibited. Unverified health claims that something cures, treats, prevents or diagnoses a disease may not be shared; recommendations for miracle solutions, unproven cures or dangerous/unsupervised practices (such as unsupervised chemical procedures) are prohibited. Sharing personal experiences is permitted (such as "this product worked well on my skin"), but turning this into a medical instruction for another person is prohibited. Consulting a dermatologist or doctor should always be recommended for health concerns.
  • 4.8. Misleading, fake and manipulative content: knowingly spreading misinformation, fake comments/reviews, artificial ratings, fraud, phishing and sharing malicious links or software are prohibited.
  • 4.9. Intellectual property infringement: sharing content that is not yours, is protected by copyright or belongs to third parties without permission is prohibited. In addition, bulk copying, exporting, scraping or using Klaris's ingredient database, compatibility scores, analysis and explanatory (narrative) texts through the Community for competing/commercial purposes is prohibited (see the Terms of Use).
vi.

Not Medical Advice

Klaris Is Not Medical Advice.

5.1. Klaris and Community content are intended solely for information and cosmetic compatibility assessment. They do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and do not replace a dermatologist, doctor or other healthcare professional.

5.2. Opinions, experiences and suggestions shared by other users in the Community are personal; Klaris does not verify or endorse them. You are responsible for decisions you make based on this content.

5.3. If you have a health problem, persistent complaint, allergy or medical condition affecting your skin or hair, please consult a healthcare professional. In an emergency, contact the appropriate healthcare services.

vii.

Skin Twin / Hair Twin

Special Rules for Skin Twin / Hair Twin.

6.1. The Skin Twin / Hair Twin feature brings together the experiences of users with the same Skin or Hair Identity in a shared feed; it does not include one-to-one matching or private messaging. You may participate in this feature with your chosen display name, a system name containing no personal information, or completely anonymously (see Section iv). Skin Twin and Hair Twin feeds also contain informative content published under the Klaris name.

6.2. These Guidelines also apply to your communication with users you are matched with. You may not use matching for advertising, harassment, obtaining another person's private data or taking someone outside the Community to exploit them.

6.3. Treat suggestions from people you are matched with as personal experiences, not medical advice. The principles in Section vi also apply here.

6.4. For a post, comment or user that makes you uncomfortable, you may report the relevant user and block them to the extent the app provides for this (see Section viii).

viii.

Reporting and Moderation

Reporting and the Moderation Process.

7.1. Reporting. If you encounter content or a user you believe violates these Guidelines, you may notify Klaris using the in-app "Report / Make a Complaint" (Bildir / Şikâyet Et) option. Both platforms offer the ability to block the relevant user as well as report inappropriate content.

7.2. Review. Reported content is reviewed by the Klaris management/moderation team within a reasonable time. Under Apple and Google's user-generated content requirements, efforts are made to address reviews of content explicitly reported as inappropriate within 24 hours and, if considered necessary, the content is removed and/or the relevant user is sanctioned.

7.3. Proactive moderation. Klaris may review content without a report and may remove or hide content it finds to violate the Guidelines. Klaris is not obliged to review all content in advance.

7.4. Abuse. Abusing the reporting mechanism (targeting other users with unfounded/deliberate mass complaints) also violates these Guidelines and is subject to sanctions.

7.5. Transparency. Klaris makes reasonable efforts to notify you of moderation decisions concerning you; however, it may withhold details where security, legal obligations or abuse prevention require this.

ix.

Sanctions

Sanctions (Consequences).

8.1. In the event of conduct contrary to these Guidelines, Klaris may, at its discretion and according to the nature and severity of the violation, apply one or more of the following sanctions:

  • (a) Warning: sending a warning to the user.
  • (b) Content removal: removing, hiding or editing the relevant content.
  • (c) Feature restriction: temporarily restricting access to Community and/or Skin Twin / Hair Twin features.
  • (d) Suspension: temporarily suspending the account.
  • (e) Permanent ban: permanently terminating the account and/or Community access.

8.2. Depending on the severity of the violation, Klaris may act progressively or, for serious violations (for example, illegal content, serious harassment, doxxing, content threatening child safety or dangerous medical claims), directly apply the most severe sanction, including a permanent ban.

8.3. Suspension or banning of your account does not affect other rights and claims under the Klaris Terms of Use and applicable legislation. You may be liable, under the relevant Terms of Use, for damage suffered by third parties or Klaris due to content that violates the Guidelines.

8.4. Where necessary and legally required, Klaris may share relevant content and account information to respond to requests from competent authorities or fulfil its legal obligations.

x.

Responsibility for Content

You Are Responsible for Your Content.

9.1. Any content you share in the Community and Skin Twin / Hair Twin spaces (including comments, text, images, messages and product contributions) is entirely your responsibility. You are responsible for all legal consequences arising from that content.

9.2. Klaris does not produce, adopt or verify user-generated content; that content does not reflect Klaris's views. In its capacity as a hosting/intermediary service provider, Klaris is obliged to remove unlawful content duly reported to it within a reasonable time; it is not obliged to monitor content in advance.

9.3. By sharing content, you undertake that you are legally entitled to share it and that it does not infringe third-party rights (including intellectual property, personality rights and privacy).

9.4. The licence granted to Klaris to use content you share and the rules for assessing/publishing product contributions are set out in the Klaris Terms of Use. Klaris is not obliged to publish product contributions or other content.

xi.

Changes

Changes.

10.1. Klaris may update these Guidelines from time to time. The current version is published within the app and on klaris.com.tr. Reasonable efforts will be made to notify users of significant changes. Continuing to use Community features after changes are published means you accept the updated Guidelines.
